Abstract Several results clearly show that, overall, TIPS is an extremely effective therapy for patients with severe BCS inwhom medical treatment has failed. The current study aimed at calculation of the success rate of TIPS among Egyptian patients with BCS legible for this intervention, identification of the main prognostic factors/predictors of TIPS success and assessment of the quality of life of these patients before and after TIPS. To reach our aim, ٢٠ patients were included in this study with confirmed diagnosis of BCS and eligible criteria for radiological intervention. All patients with any clinical presentations suggestive of BCSwere subjected to full history taking, thorough clinical examination, and radiological assessment with special stress on the patency of hepatic veins, portal vein and IVC by abdominal Doppler/US, upper GI endoscopy and laboratory investigations including: liver profile, kidney function tests, complete blood picture and thrombophilia work up, liver biopsy. |
