Abstract

Poultry, their feed and wastes are considered a major source of diseases acquired by human consuming or in contact with poultry. These diseases are zoonotic diseases that constitute a public health problem throughout the world. Of bacterial zoonoses, Salmonella and Staphylococcal foodbome infections are of a major public health importance Salmonella and S. aureus microorganisms are one of the most important causative agents of food poisoning, so this work aimed to
follow up the sources of Salmonella and S. aureus in poultry wastes. This aim was achieved by isolation, identification and genotyping of the isolated bacteria from different sources. Moreover, the antibiotic sensitivity of some isolated bacteria was also investigated. Our study included the following: A total of 3 79 samples were collected represented in: - One hundred and one hand swabs from poultry workers in contact with chicken. Twenty nine hand swabs from poultry workers in contact with ducks. Fourty eight chicken DROPping samples. - Fifty two duck DROPping samples. - F ourty chicken feather samples. - Sixteen duck feather samples. - Thirty four chicken feed samples. - Fifteen duck feed samples. -Fourty four chicken litter samples.
