In severe cases, however, staged procedures throughout puberty may be required to optimize the aesthetic result. Reconstruction of the postburn breast can done by skin graft, local flaps like Z plasty- V Y Z plasty and others, reduction mammoplasty, latissmus dorsi flap or TRAM flap, pedicled perforators flaps, free flaps from abdomen-gluteal region and others, tissue expansion alone or implant insertion alone or both, inframammary fold reconstruction by different techniques and nipple areola reconstruction by different methods. The normal breast may need reduction or mastopexy or augmentation according to the reconstructed breast to achieve symmetry between two breasts. |
