Abstract
One of the goals of the critically ill patients positioning has been maximization of ventilation to improve systemic oxgenationbody positionsof critically ill patients can have a profound influenceon arterial oxgenationbody which in turn would affect the individual’s ability to maintain an internal environment that allows normal cell function therapeutic body positioning prescribed to optimize cardiopulmonary function and oxygen transport should be differentiated from routine body positioning the critical care nurse plays a crucial role in the assessment diagnosis and management of patients with respiratory problems who develops hypoxemia.
The importance of the effect of body position on ventilatory function and gas exchange has been appreciated less informationis available concerning the effect of position changes on gas exchangein human body on the other hand studies related to the adequate duration in each position and the frequency of turning the patients for maximizing ventilation to improve systemic oxygenation has not been attempted.
The aim of study was to determine the effect of position chsnge on oxygenationand respiratory mechanics in patients with respiratory problems.
