Abstract

The work in this thesis was carried out in greenhouse at Faculty of Agriculture, Kafrelsheikh University during 2010 and 2011 rice growing seasons. The experiments were conducted in order to investigate the biological and cytological effects of some herbicides as compared with the effect of rice seedlings extracts on some rice weeds. The work was divided into two parts as following:
I-First Part:
This part of work was concerned with the effects of some herbicides on some growth parameters of rice plants (C.V. Sakha 104) and some rice weeds, i.e. E.crus-galli and E. colonum. Three herbicidal treatments were carried out as follows:
1- Bispyribac-sodium, at rate of 800 cc/ fed.
2- Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl at rate of 350 cc/ fed.
3- Penoxsulam at rate of 400 cc/fed.
Control treatments were carried out for comparing the obtained results; all treatments were applied 20 days after planting (DAP).
The following parameters were determined:
A- Morphological parameters: All measurements were carried out at 7, 14 and 21 days after treatment (DAT). Those parameters were as follows:
1- Plant height (cm/plant).
2- Shoot fresh and dry weight (gm. /plant).
3- Leaf area (cm2/plant).
B -Physiological parameters:
1-Chlorophyll content (A, B and total): were carried out at 7, 14 and 21 days after treatment (DAT)
2-Relative water content (RWC) .were determined at 10 days after
treatment (DAT).
3- Membrane integrity (permeability) was determined at 10 days after treatment (DAT).
C – Leaves cytological studies:
Samples of plant leaves were investigated cytological after 10 days
(DAT).
