Abstract

For more than two decades, leading health organizations, institutions, researchers and public policy advocates have promoted the idea that patients should be at the center of their own healthcare experience. Much has been learned about the principles and practices shaping patient-centered care. While many agree that patients should be the focal point of design and delivery of healthcare.
Interest in health education has been rising because there is increasing evidence that many of the most serious problems of health are associated with specific behavior and lifestyles. Liver cirrhosis as chronic progressive complicated disease impose the importance of patient participation in treatment care plan that can’t be achieved without informed patients; thus it is obviously important that patients should have accurate information, so they can make decisions about their behaviors, they should be fully aware and informed about their health conditions including disease diagnosis, available treatment potions, side effects, complications, cost, and cure possibilities.
This study was carried out to investigate the effectiveness of the implementation of a health teaching module on incidence of health problems for patients with liver cirrhosis.
It was conducted at Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary units on the Main University Hospital. A convenient sample of 80 adult patients diagnosed with liver cirrhosis was selected from the mentioned units regardless of their sex; Patients were randomly divided into two equal groups (control and study group).
