Abstract

Acute lower C (ALRI) is a known major cause of death all over the world and the major cause of death in infancy in the developed world. Treatment of ALRI by antibiotics, mainly, participated in the reduction of the mortality, and morbidity, rates among infants and children. Vitamine-A deficiency [VAD] is a known problem of developing countries infants and children. The roles of Vit-A in the resistance of the human body against infections and its pathogenic effects are well known now days. In this work, we have studied the benefit of adding large doses of Vit-A to the antibiotic treatment of ALRI diseased patients. We have found that Vit–A supplementation has no significance value in treating children and infants with LRT infection especially in absence of Vit-A deficiency.
