Abstract

This study was conducted at Etai EI-Baroud Agricultural Research Station Farm, EI-Beharia Governorate Agriculture Rresearch Center (ARC) during 20102011 seasons, for the use of compost, vermicompost and water treatment residual(WTR) to improvement of a salt affected soil and increase the wheat crop (Sakha 93). This was done in the first season, and at the end of the season, the results showed the best treatment. The best treatment was applied in the second season with the addition of potassium fertilization. The specific objectives of this study are: I-Study the impact of adding compost, vermicompost and WTR alone in combination at different application rates and mixed is on improve the chemical and physical properties of salt-affected soil and it is affect on the productivity of wheat crop. 2- Studying the effect of potassium fertilization accompanied with the best treatment from the first experiment on improve the chemical properties of salt affected soil and it is affect on the productivity of wheat crop. For this study, surface soil samples (0-30) were collected from salt affected soil, zone EI-Hamoul - KaIT EI-Sheikh governorate. Compost used in this study was made of rice straw and animals wastes. vermicompost was made of rice straw and animals wastes with local species of earthworm. Water treatment residuals were collected from EI-Baharia water treatment plant. Pot experiment under the condition of wire prop green house was conducted in a complete randomized block design with 3 replicates. Wheat (Triticum aestivum) cultivar (Sakha 93) was sown at the 15th November 2009. Irrigation intervals were 10 days using tap water for irrigation. The amount of water for each irrigation was determined by weighting the pots, to raise the soil water content to the field capacity, in addition to 15 % as leaching requirement. Nitrogen fertilizer was added.
