Abstract This study was conducted on potato crop (Solanumtuberosum L.) c.v. Spunta during the two successive winter seasons of 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 in vegetable private farm at Kafr Meet Faris, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, to investigate the effects of organic manure (FYM) rates and some inorganic fertilizers (NPK) levels, either alone or in combination with some sources of macronutrients foliar spray on potato growth, yield and its components and tubers quality as well as chemical constituents and storability. The experimental design used was split split plots with three replicates. Tuber seeds were planted on 20th and 15th of October in the first and second seasons, respectively. FYM rates occupied the main plots which were subdivided to 3 sub plots, each contained one of NPK levels, while the foliar spray treatment were assigned to sub-sub-plots. Generally, the best results were obtained by application of 40 m3 FYM/fed to potato plants with 50% NPK level (90 Kg N + 37. 5 Kg P2O5 + 48 kg K2O/fed) and foliar spray by Ferty More (5-3-43, NPK) and Hi-Fertil1(19-19-19, NPK). This treatment resulted in great values than those produced by 100% NPK (180 Kg N + 75 Kg P2O5 + 96 Kg K2O/fed). Therefore, it was concluded that application of 40 m3/fed FYM rate and foliar sprays by Ferty More and Hi-Fertil1 reduced the need for mineral NPK by about 50%, hence reducing costs and environmental pollution problems. Accordingly this treatment could be recommended for raising potato (c.v. Spunta) yield and improving tuber quality during the storage period as well as lowering the productive cost consequently, raising net profit for farmers under similar conditions. |
