Abstract

Sixty adult male albino rats were classified into normal control, liver injured rats received plant fat which were caffeine, cocoa, Nescafe, coffee and black tea groups and liver injured rat received animal fat which were non treated , caffeine , cocoa, Nescafe, coffee and black tea groups. The results of liver injured rat groups received plant fat showed non-significant difference in final weight, weight gain, weight gain percent, FER , food intake, total protein and albumin among treated rat groups. Caffeine treated rats group showed a significant increase in serum creatinine, AST, ALT, total bilirubin, cholesterol ,CHO / HDLc , LDLc / HDLc ,HGB ,HCT, MCV ,MCH and A/G ratio but significant reduction in phospholipids, WBC and PLT compared with other treated groups. Nescafe rat group showed significant increase in TG, VLDLc, cholesterol, CHO / HDLc, LDLc / HDLc, ALP and total lipids but significant decrease in RBCs, WBC, PLT and phospholipids while black tea rats group showed a higher significant value of uric acid, LDLc and LDLc / HDLc was seen. However, cocoa group showed significant higher value of ALP ,urea, total bilirubin ,MCV and MCH but significant decrease in RBCs, WBC and PLT compared among other treated groups. The liver injured rat groups received plant fat showed significant decrease in creatinine ,urea AST , ALT , ALP, total bilirubin , A/G ratio, CHO ,atherogenic index ,WBC and TG and significant increase in HDL, HGB in all treated rat groups while caffeine treated rat group showed significant decrease in final weight, weight gain, weight gain percent, daily food intake , FER ,MCV, total lipids and phospholipids but a significant increase in RBCs , uric acid ,VLDLc and HCT compared with non-treated group. Coffee treated group showed significant decrease in PLT, MCV, total lipids and phospholipids while Nescafe rats group showed significant decrease in total protein and globulin but a significant increase in uric acid and HCT compared with other liver injured rat groups. The cocoa treated rats group showed significant increase in albumin and HCT but a significant decrease in total lipids and phospholipids while black tea showed significant decrease in MCV, total lipids and phospholipids and significant increase in uric acid and VLDLc compared with non-treated group. It is recommended to consume caffeine products since improves it injured liver with hyperlipidemia.
