Abstract A preliminary study was conducted to evaluate the effect of oral administration of albendazole at dosage 5 mg/kg BW as a single dose, 10 mg/kg BW as a single dose, 2.5 mg/kg BW repeated for four days and 1.25 mg/kg BW repeated for eight days in male goats naturally infected with Haemonchus contortus. Furthermore, evaluate its effect on body weight, physiological parameters and some haematological and serum biochemical parameters. The results revealed significant reductions in faecal eggs count per gram in treated groups on day 3, 7, 15 and 30 when compared to control. No significant effect showed on adult and larvae count, body weight and physiological parameters except heart beats on day 45 revealed a significant increase in the control group. Different effects revealed in erythrogram, leucogram and serum proteins. The results revealed no adverse effects in liver and kidney functions. |
