Abstract The present experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of cobalt deficiency on body weight gain, haemogram, serum biochemistry, rumen volatile fatty acids, immune response against infectious diseases and histopathological examination of the liver. In addition, the use of a therapeutic aid as a means of treatment among the diseased lambs as well as recording improvement in clinical signs and growth. The study concluded to cobalt deficiency in lambs exhibited alterations in haemogram, serum biochemistry, immunity and histopathology of liver. These changes affected the general health of lambs with appearance of clinical signs of the disease. When these lambs were treated with cobalt chloride, as treatment for 4 weeks, these signs disappeared. |
