Abstract

This study included 30 patients suffering from PS disease. They were randomly divided into 3 groups. The 1st group (10patients) was subjected to PS excision with Karydakis technique, the 2nd group of patients were subjected to modified Karydakis technique while the 3rd group were subjected to L flap technique. The results of this study showed that there were no significant differences among the three groups with respect to age, sex distribution, or frequency of recurrent disease. L flap technique has been reported to have lower infection and recurrence rates, shorter hospital stay, and better aesthetic results. With this technique, the natal cleft can be flattened, and tissue can be approximated without tension. The hospital stay for L flap technique shorter than that of the two other techniques, and the difference between the groups was significant, This difference did not reach statistical significance because of the relatively small number of patients and short follow-up time.
