Abstract Introduction: Overweight women and mothers with great multiparty are common among Egyptian patients, accounting for a pendulous, bulky shape in more than half of the diseased breasts. Aim of the work: This study is constructed to provide a comprehensive integrated review on different surgical methods of management of breast cancer in women with large breast. Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in the adult Egyptian females, it accounts for about 33% of all malignancies in the adult females according to National Egypt Cancer Registry in 2009. Large breast is considered a common feature among Egyptians females. Dealing with breast cancer in such cases has evolved a lot during the last few years. Conclusion: Traditional Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM) can be used but it has many problems such as asymmetry and scoliosis. Conservative Breast Surgery (CBS) is another solution but also has its problems such as fibrosis and poor cosmosis as a result of heterogeneous distribution of radiotherapy. Reconstruction could be used with some modifications to get the desired size either by using autologus tissues, implants or even both. |
