Abstract

The aim of this study was to detect the value of glycated haemoglobin as a predictor of left ventricular remodeling in diabetic patients with acute myocardial infarction.
Forty Five patients were included in this study; 25 patients with firstly presented acute MI (with classic chest pain, ECG, cardiac enzymes of acute MI) and previous history of type II diabetes mellitus (patient known to be diabetic and on oral hypoglycemic treatment) and 20 patients with acute myocardial infarction and high blood glucose (type II diabetes) but no previous history of diabetes.
This study had been carried out in Intensive Care Unit of Cardiology Department, Zagazig university hospitals and Luxor International Hospital .
All patients of the study were subjected to the following :
• History taking and complete clinical examination.
• Calculation of BMI.
• Electrocardiogram (ECG).
• Chest X-Ray.
• Echocardiography.
• Diagnostic angiography.
• Glycated haemoglobin (HBA1c) .
• Fasting and two hours post- prandial blood glucose.
• Kidney function tests.
• CPK, CKMB, Troponin I.
• Lipid profile (Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL,LDL).
