Abstract The aim of this study was to assesses bone density in juvenile controlled and uncontrolled diabetic patients versus normal(non diabetic) patients radiometrically. The study was performed on forty patients of both sexes, ranging of age from 6-14 years, were selected from the out patient clinic of internal medicine department.Faculty of Medicine,Suez Canal University. The selected patients were divided into three groups;twenty diabetic patients that were further divided into two groups according to their blood sugar level;ten with controlled blood sugar level[Group1 (GI)]and ten with uncontrolled blood sugar level[Group2(G2)].Moreover,twenty non diabetic individuals [group 3 (G3)] Were included and compared with the previously mentioned groups. The three groups under investigation were subjected to the same examination procedures including;detailed case history, thorough clinical examination of the oral structures, clinical attachment loss and blood sampling to estimate glucose level. For standardization of the linear and densitometric measurements, all patients were evaluated intra oral direct digital paralleling periapical radiograph for upper central incisors and lower first molars to evaluate linear measurements of pocket depth and bone density of the supporting dental structures. |
