Abstract The genera of leguminous plants are the most important and widely distributed vegetable crops in Egypt in open field cultivation. Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is one of the major vegetable crops in commercial fields both for local consumption and / or exportation. White mould, caused by S. sclerotiorum (lib.) de Bary, is a destructive yield – limiting disease of common bean. S.sclerotiorum was isolated from samples of the diseased bean plants showing white rot symptoms collected from different locations. Therefore, the present investigation was conducted to isolate and identificate of the causal pathogen from different legumes. The study was also takes the areas as well as biological control agents as well. Pathogenicity tests to determine the most pathogenic isolates of the causal organism. Evaluation of the common and commercial cultivars of was also conducted. Studying the physiological characters of the pathogen isolates was very important. For reducing the use of fungicides or chemical compounds many attempts for control white rot disease of bean were carried out using biological control agents against the pathogen both in vitro and in vivo as wellas antioxidants, calcium salts, etc. |
