Abstract Breast cancer is the most common female cancer, the second most common cause of cancer death in women, the use of screening mammography and effective adjuvant therapy lead to declining mortality rates. Breast cancer survivors require follow-up surveillance for early recognition and treatment of potentially curable disease recurrences and second primaries, and screening for therapy-related complications. Combined modality therapy utilizing surgery, radiation, and systemic therapy is emerging globally as the standard of care for breast cancer. Each type of treatment has its own complications. Pretreatment assessment and follow up of the patients and the management of these complications improves the overall survival and quality of life of these patients. |
