Abstract ABSTRACT AND KEY WORDS Psoriasis is well known to be associated with rheumatic manifestations. It is considered one of the spondyloarthropathies. Howevere there are several classification and diagnostic criteria, none of them is widely used. The exact prevalence of rheumatic manifestations in psoria5is is not known due to Illi’f~~~”\).c~ \)~\.~~~”\). ~~~~.?.\.\..~”’\\.~. This work aims to study the prevalence of arthritis and other rheumatic manifestations clinically and radiologically in psoriatics and to correlate skin & nail changes with the rheumatic manifestations. This study was conducted on 81 psoriatics of whom 59 (73%) patients had rheumatic manifestations. Patients with psoriatic arthropathy constituted five subgroups which may overlap, 14 (17%) patients had peripheral arthritis, 38 (47%) patients had spondylitis, 36 (44%) patients had enthesopathy, 2 (2.5%) patients had dactylitis and 49 (60%) patients had osteoperiostitis of big toe. Psoriasis and psoriatic arthropathy have two peak of age at onset, one in the third decade and the other in the fifth decade. Age, age at onset and duration of illness were significantly higher in patient with psoriatic arthropathy. |
