Abstract The aim of the work is to evaluate the prevalence and the risk of high vWF and microalbuminurea (MA) and their relation to diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy in type-2 diabetic patients. In conclusion, the risk of renal damage among microalbuminurea type 2 diabetic patients is much higher when retinopathy or a high vWF concentration is present than when these factors are absent. This supports the concept that microalbuminurea in type 2 diabetes mellitus can occur in the absence or the presence of generalized endothelial dysfunction, and that the latter is a much more ”malignant” condition than the former. |
