Abstract

Investigate the influence of two resin cement shades cured using different light curing units, in relation to their respective try in pastes, on the final color of a pressable ceramic. Materials and Methods: A total of twenty eight disc specimens were constructed from a pressable ceramic and a composite resin. Discs were etched, rinsed and dried following the manufacturer’s recommendations. 2 main groups were divided according to the shade of used resin cement .In each group, try in paste of the selected shade was applied first then washed and resin cement was applied. Each of these groups was subdivided into 2 subgroups according the curing unit used either halogen or LED. Spectrophotometric analysis was carried out. Color changes ΔE were calculated using Commission Internationale de L’Eclairge Lab (CIE-LAB) uniform color scale. All data were tabulated and statistically analyzed with One-way ANOVA was used. Results: a significant difference between the try in paste of the two selected cement shades and their corresponding cured resin cement, Curing light sources have no significant effect on the two selected shades, and finally ceramic color of both selected cement shade was significantly modified by change in color parameters of the cured resin cement getting darker and more blue due to the decrease in L* and b* values and shifted to more red due to the increase in a* value especially those cured using halogen curing unit. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the try in paste of the two selected cement shades and their corresponding cured resin cement, regardless of the curing light sources which have no significant effect on the two selected shades.
