Abstract The aim of the work in this study is to evaluate our early results of agement of different types of hand fractures (metacarpals & phalanges), and recise the proper means of their management according to fracture site, ’,configuration, number of fractured bones, and associated injuries. We also j to put a simple algorithm that we followed on managing hand fractures, algoritlun is based on the data reported in literature concerning this subject. m this study we managed different types of hand fractures involving ~carpals and phalanges, by using different means of fixation. We used a r1e external fixator as an alternative to the unavailable expensive ufixators for the hand. This study included 31 metacarpal & phalangeal fractures in 22 cases (with :Illsion of the thumb metacarpal). All of them attended the final follow up. ~e average age of the patients was 32 years & 3 months, ranging from 7 and years. Sixteen were males representing 72 .7(% of the population of the dy, and only six females representing 27.3-Yo of the population Eighteen lients were right handed while only four patients were left-handed, the right nd was injured in sixteen patients, while the left hand was injured in six. |
