Abstract
It can be concluded from this study that the use of fosfomycin (40 mg/kg b.wt), danofloxacin (5 mg/kg b.wt) alone or in combination in drinking water for 3 successive days displayed valuable improvement in clinical symptoms, survival rate, growth performance and biochemical parameters of E. coli- infected broilers. That might be as a result of termination of infection by the bactericidal effect of the antibacterials.
Furthermore, the in vitro investigations that clarified the synergistic interaction between fosfomycin and danofloxacin, which in turn confirmed the safety of the application of a combination therapy consisting of these two drugs.
