Abstract determine and teach some English writing skills to secondary school students and using Thinking Maps to investigate the effectiveness of using Thinking Maps in developing their writing skills. The participants of the study were 23 EFL students randomized from AI-Baramun secondary, East Mansura Directorate, Dakahlyia Governorate .They constituted a pretest-posttest one group research design. They were taught five thinking maps throughout a thinking Maps-Based Program (TMBP) which contained ten sessions developed by the researcher. Data were obtained from two expository, essays ( (pollution as a world problem and the picnic you had last Friday land Thinking Maps Awareness test which contained items measuring how much students understand these maps. They were dealt with statistically through the use of percentages scores, Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test, t-test for paired samples, and effect size ( ES) . The study results revealed that the effectiveness of using Thinking Maps in developing the writing performance of EFL secondary school students, the students awareness of thinking maps was fairly high, students become aware of types of thinking they can apply to assignments and thinking maps improved teacher awareness of higher level thinking skills. Practical application 1. Dividing the content into lessons when developing instructional program. 2. Developing Thinking Maps Based- Program (TMBP) that develops Some English Writing Skills. |
