Abstract

This thesis consists of the study of the results of haemorrhoidecotmy by the classical methods of ligation excision and closed haemorrhoidectomy by studying the postoperative course of 100 patients with primary haemorrhoids of the third and fourth degree piles.
The 100 patients were divided into two equal groups:
• Group (A): Contained 50 patients of different age and sex that were operated upon by the classic method of ligation excision (open technique).
• Group (B): Contained 50 patients of different age and sex that were operated upon by the closed technique of haemorrhoidectomy.
Our study compared the postoperative course, sequels and complication of the two groups.
The study did not support one technique for haemorrhoidectomy over the other, postoperative pain, sequels and complications were almost equal with both techniques. Closed haemorrhoidectomy had the advantage of rapid healing.
So it is wise to state that the technique of choice is that mastered by the surgeon.
