Abstract
Thalassemia is the most common type of genetic abnormality in the
world (Ali D, et al, 2008). It was first described by Dr. Cooley in 1925
(Cooley T.B, et al, 1925).
Thalassemia is more prevalent in the Mediterranean Region, North and
West Africa, the Middle East and some other parts of the world
(WeathheallDJ, et al, 1981).
