Abstract

Two field experiment were carried out at the Nursery of Fac. of Agric., Minia Univ. during the two successive seasons of 2009 / 2010 and 2010 / 2011 to investigate the response of vegetative growth, yield components, oil production and chemical composition of caraway plants to four planting dates (15th Sep., 1st Oct., 15th Oct. and 30th Oct.) and spraying with natural substances treatments i.e. active yeast, salicylic acid and some vitamins (C, B1 and E), as well as, the interaction. The highest values of vegetative growth parameters, yield and essential oil (%and yield), as well as, pigments and NPK elements resulted from sowing caraway plants on 15th Sep. Spraying plants with active yeast, salicylic acid and each of three vitamins resulted the best growth, improved yield and increased oil % and oil yield, as well as, chemical parameters. Sowing plants on 15th Sep. in combination with vitamins, especially, Vit. B1 resulted in the best of all previous parameters studied.
