Abstract

Preoperative radiological assessment of potential living kidney donors is essential during donor work-up. Before surgery in living donor kidney supernumerary arteries and early branching anomalies are of particular importance. Also, preoperative imaging should give sufficient information on variants of renal veins and the status of the donor kidney & its collecting system for better selection of donated kidney to ensure the best functional outcome for recipients and no or minimal morbidity for donors .Traditionally, living renal donors have undergone preoperative evaluation with excretory urography and renal catheter angiography. More recently, multidetector computed tomographic (MDCT) angiography is a noninvasive technique replacing catheter angiography and excretory urography.
