Abstract Catering industry is the act of providing food and services or it may be defined as preparing or providing food for someone and primarily concerned with the provision of meals, food and refreshments fully prepare away from people’s homes. This study attempts to assess food handlers’ knowledge and practices regarding food safety and hygiene to find out whether or not food safety and hygiene precautions are properly adopted . Sticking to such precautions can lead to healthy and hazards free food and to increasing the overall quality of food and beverages in the catering industry . The main aim of the study is to assess the food handler’s knowledge in contract catering companies. To attain such aim, the study attempted to:- 1) measure the workers knowledge about health aspects and hygiene of food handling process. 2) Assess the food handlers practices during the food handling process from the safety and hygiene perspectives 3) Compare between the food knowledge that food handlers have and the practices they do on the ground to find out any variances. |
