Abstract The present work is a cross-sectional study done in the Growth Clinic of the Diabetes Endocrine and Metabolism Pediatric Unit (DEMPU), Pediatric Hospital, Cairo University. It included 36 pre pubertal children (21 males and 15 females) with a mean age 5 years ± 1.8 SD complaining of short stature, with height SDS -2.42 ± 0.59 SD and 38 (25 males and 13 females) age and sex related normally growing children taken as control, 21 of them are siblings of the cases. The aim of this study is to assess the nutritional status in a group of prepubertal children with non endocrinal short stature and the dietary content and serum level of micronutrients zinc and iron and to compare these data with normally growing siblings and a group of none related children.
