Abstract Impotence is the inability to initiate and maintain a firm erection sufficient to achieve successful coitus. Impotence is estimated to affect 10 percent of all men (Roger et al., 1987). Intracorporal pharmacotherapy for erectile impotence has gained widespread acceptance (Virag et al., 1984). But, intracorporal injection with vasoactive substances occasionally is accompanied by complications, such as priapism or fibrosis of the penis. Thus a compound that induces penile erection without any side effects would be highly desirable. Prostaglandin El was described as having caused artificial penile erection after intracorporal injection without consideration of side effects (Ishil et al., 1986). AIM OF THE WORK The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the efficacy and side effects of prostaglandin El (PCE1) versus papaverine in single intracavernous injection in impotence. |
