Abstract The occurrence of Salmonella in (1770) poultry was assessed from July 2010 through July 2011. The samples included the paper-lined boxes of imported day-old broiler chicks (n=900), breeder chicks (n=300), grandparent chicks (n=330), ducklings (n=150), and turkey poults (n=90).Imported ducklings, and turkey poults were mostly Salmonlla free. Although 16.7% of the imported broiler chicks were positive for Salmonella, the imported breeders and grandparent chicks exhibited 10% and 9.1% respectively. The most prevalent serotype isolated from broiler chicks was S.enteritidis, imported from Turkey, Jordan, France, England, and Saudi Arabia in all seasons of year. Serotype isolated from breeder chicks was S.amherstana, imported from France in spring season. S.enteritidis was isolated from grandparent chicks and imported from England in winter season. Senteritidis is sensitive to phosphomycin with tylosin, ciprofloxacin; colistin sulphate and oxytetracycline. On other hand (240) imported birds was assessed for E.coli. The samples included the internal organs of imported day-old broiler chicks (n=90), breeder chicks (n=30), grandparent chicks (n=30), ducklings (n=60), and turkey poults (n=30).The prevalence rate were 23.3%,20%,13.4%,46.7% and13.3% respectively .The most prevalent serotype isolated from broiler chicks were O91,O26,O11,O158, O44, O114, O125 and O145, imported from Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Poland and Serbia during all seasons of year. The most prevalent serotype isolated from breeder chicks were O91, O26, O11, O145, O114 and O124 imported from Ireland, France and Holland during summer, winter and spring seasons.O91, O26 andO145 serotypes isolated from grandparent chicks during winter and spring seasons imported from France, Germany and USA. Concerning ducklings; the most prevalent serotype isolated were O91, O26, O124 and O145, imported from France during summer, autumn and winter seasons. Regarding turkey poults, isolated serotypes were O91, O127, O124, O145, O114 and O64, imported from France, Germany, Ireland and Poland during all seasons of year. E.coli is sensitive to phosphomycin with tylosin, ciprofloxacin and colistin sulphate. |
