Abstract Objectives: Studying the effect of water stress, nitrogen fertilizers, fym and Azotobacter on yield, yield components and chemical characteristics of maize plants. And also, on soil properties. Methods & Results: Two field experiments were conducted at Soil Department Greenhouse, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University during 2007 and 2008 summer seasons using maize plant .Factorial experiment was conducted at three replicates. Treatments of irrigation was (Normal irrigation 100% of field capacity and stress irrigation 60% of field capacity ),three treatments of mineral nitrogen fertilizer at rates of (0, 50,100% from the recommended doses), two treatments of organic nitrogen as farmyard manure (with and without FYM) and two treatments of nitrogen biofertilizer (inoculated with Azotobacter chroococcum and uninoculated one) to investigate the effect of water stress and nitrogen fertilizer sources on growth, yield and yield components of maize plants and also, on soil physical and chemical properties. Conclusion:The obtained data illustrated that for obtaining a high, good quality and economically maize yield and at the same time saving soil from hazards of high doses of mineral fertilizers, we recommended that maize plants should be irrigated at field capacity and fertilized with mineral nitrogen fertilizer in conjunction with Azotobacter and addition of FYM under the same conditions of the study .Also, in case of deficit of water at the end of canals we must adding FYM at (20-30) Mg fed-1 and biofertilizer with NPK fertilizers to obtaining a high and economically maize yield. |
