Abstract This thesis entitled studies on synthesis and reactivity of metal (II) chelates with . Hydrazine derivatives Schiff bases. It comprises four chapters and ends with a list of references. The first chapter includes i) The chemical and structural properties of (dithiocarbazoates) dithiocarbamates. ii) The metal complexes synthesized from the chelation of metals e.g. Ni, Co, Cu, Zn with dithiocarbazoate and their Schiff base derivatives. iii) transmetalation, ligand substitution, displacement of ligand from a substrate M-X or displacement of leaving group from the ligand moiety containing complex by various reagents. iv) Biological activity of the dithiocarbazoate derivatives Schiff bases and their metal complexes. v) Square planar vs tetrahedral coordination in diamagnetic Nickel (II) complexes. The second chapter consists of a first part that describes the methods of preparation of complexes 1.29a and 2.3b-f through multi step processes: synthesis of arylglyoxals, methyl dithiocarbazoate, aryl ethane diylidene bis (methyl dithiocarbazonoate) and finally their Ni complexes. The second part expresses the preparation of products 1.35b and 2.4b-f obtained from the reactions of 1.29a and 2.3b-f with morpholine Mo in benzene, scheme Equation. |
