Abstract

In the present work, subcritical water technology has been used as a new pathway for jojoba oil extraction and the extracted oil could be used in the biodiesel production, which represents an alternative for petroleum oil. The main conclusions from the thesis could be drawn
as follow:
• The optimum oil extraction temperature is 240°C.
• The optimum extraction time is 30 min.
• The optimum solvent: feed ratio is 2: 1.
• The optimum particle size is 3 mm.
• To maximize the extraction yield, a double extraction process for the solid residual under the optimum extraction conditions is advisable.
Based on the obtained results, Table 4 gives a comparison between the new technique and the traditional expeller extraction (mechanical squeezing) followed by hexane extraction. It is important to note here that the entire present work has been filed as a patent with filing number of 201112103 (Egyptian Patent Office) and an announcement from the academy of science and technology has been received showing the acceptance of the academy to carry out the financial needed for processing the patent.
