Abstract
This- thesis is devoted to the study of the effects of some fiber parameters that
represent a major component in optical communication systems on the performance of
erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDF A). These parameters are related with the distributions
of both the erbium concentration and refractive index with the core radius, which has not
been investigated before. The effects of the variation of the ambient temperature and the
amplifier length on the gain spectrum are also studied. The performance of the erbium
almino-germanosilicate with maximum aluminum concentration has been taken into
account in this work.
