Abstract In this work we aimed to utilize of the modified activated carbon and carbon nanotubes for removal of heavy metals (Pb2+ ,Cd2+ and Ni2+) from water samples. The sorbent carbon based materials were characterize by: 1. Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy . 2. pH of slurry , point of zero charge and Boehm titration . 3. Nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm (surface area), transmission and scanning electron microscopes The adsorption-desorption studies of Pb(II) ,Cd(II) and Ni(II) on the sorbents carbon based materials were carried out by studying different factors like pH of solution , concentration , shaking time , adsorbent dose ,ionic strength ,foreign ions and temperature of solution and effect of pH on desorption process . This study showed the utility of the modified activated carbon and carbon nanotubes on removal of heavy metals from water. |
