Abstract
There is a clinically significant relationship between H CV in fcction and hepatic steatosis. Two forms of steatosis exist in patients with HCY. The first type of steatosis occurs sccondarv to metabolic factors namclv ”metabolic steatosis”.This form of steatosis is not initiated by the hepatitis C virus however it can very well increase the progression of fibrosis ultimately towards cirrhosis. The other form of steatosis occurs as a direct result or the HCY genotype 3 virus through complex interactions between the HCY core protein and the hepatocyte, namely ”viral steatosis”.
