Abstract

The traditional approach establishing maintenance needs in many highway agencies and municipalities relies on visual inspection of road conditions. This type of maintenance practice leads to inefficient and random way of spending maintenance budgets, therefore, it is much wiser to start with a simple system of maintenance decisions that suits the essential current needs of an agency.For an easy method in this study, The Pavement Condition Rating (PCR) was used, It is a numerical indicator used for rating of pavement condition and determination the pavement structural integrity and surface operational condition. The value of the (PCR) represents the actual condition of the pavement by analyzing data collected through tables indicating distress, severity and extent. These tables present a better understanding for the pavement behavior along the highway profile. It also help to allocate the most dominant types of pavement distresses in each segment and finally calculate the average PCR and determines the Corresponding condition too for the highway pavement. As a case study, the data were collected for three roads in Kom Hamada city in El beheira province. These roads are Kom Hamada-Al dlangat road, El Toad- Epsom road and Kom Hamada-Etai road.
