Abstract

The Egyptian [’mal deteriorating conditions rcquire carcful, fundamental and creative solutions in order to improve the living conditions and to maintain the characteristics of local cornrnunitit::s at the same time. Rural tourism or tourism in rural areas is a gro\\ ing form of activity which can bring economic and social benefits 10 the society. Although [’ural tourism in its true form is relatively new in Egypt bul the development of it is considered to be a necessary ingredient that has a positive impact on the rural community improvement. This study represents the Egyptian rural as a potential that can be exploited for the development of the tourism sector and adding a new different Egyptian tourism product as the Egyptian countryside is characterized by its natural environment, the landscape, the presence of traditional arts and other local cultural products such a’s food and local cuisine. The included rural tourism analysis in this thesis is based on the qualitative methodology: the needed data were collected by applying the Interpretivism approach techniques dist[’ibuted among random sample of respondents. The main results shows that thc variety of Egyptian rural potentia Is are enough to identify the rural tourism pallern as new Egyptian tourism product on both national and international levels, most of Egyptian rural residents have positive attitudes and acceptance towards tourism although there arc some negative socio-cultural impacts of applying this new activity on the local communities. The research studies the Fayoum oasis as a region of highly diversilied rural tourism activities: hiking. grassing, cycling, boating and farm tourism. The stud) is analysing the current situation of the rural tourism in Fayoum and formulating a proposed set to achieve a successful rural tourism development.
