Abstract This study was carried out, during 2009 and 2010 seasons on Superior and Flame seedless grapevines grown in the Environmental Studies and Research Institute Farm, Minufiya Univ, Sadat City, Minufiya governorate. The texture of the experimental soil is sandy. Vine load for both grapevine cvs was 64 eyes. Cane pruning for Superior grape cvs. (eight fruiting canes x seven eyes plus four renewal spurs × two eyes) and spur pruning for Flame seedless grape cvs. (fourteen fruiting spurs x four eyes plus four replacement spurs x two eyes) were concerned. Supporting system for both grapevine cvs is Y shape. Vines of both grape cvs. are planted at 2.0 × 3.0 meters apart. Drip irrigation system using well water (containing 450 ppm salinity) was followed. The main target of this study was to elucidate the effect of inorganic N, compost and biofertilization with three bacterial strains Azospirillum sp., Bacillus megaterium & Bacillus cerculanse on growth, fruiting quantity and quality in two grape cvs. (Superior and Flame seedless). Activity of dehydrogenize, amount of soil CO2 evolved and total counts of bacteria in soil of the investigated vineyard were also investigated. The selected vines received the usual horticultural practices which are commonly used in the vineyard except those dealing with N fertilization sources, to be examined. |
