Abstract
This report is concerned with the Operation and Performance of Steam Power Plants. It introduces all parts of the plants to generate electricity, steam, especially the power station at Abu Qir. Chapter( I) explains the Energy sources , the clean one & the nonrenewable one and it classified the boilers & turbine. Chapter(2) get the hole unit ( equipment, pumps, heat exchangers) & it discusses the famous operating modes for the unit, operation, trip for unit. Chapter (3) discus the Abu¬Qir boiler (equipment’s, pumps, fans, steam coils & drum) and Boiler operation requirements are illustrated by explaining the start up , shut down and different operation cases & it trip affects. Chapter (4) classified; applications and its effect on efficiency and. also the various types of equipment which are used in the Heat Rate. of waste heat boiler and the periodical maintenance requirements. Also it includes several types of calculation for boiler efficiency. As a main root cause of any boiler failure, Boiler tubes, how to select the material, length and wall thickness of the tubes are presented during this report. Tube inspection is essential for boiler tube failure which is represented in this work.
