Abstract

We tried in this essay to study new methods in the treatement of primary varicose veins, disease which became represent more than 20 % of people allover the world.
Varicose veins were first described over 3500 years ago Varicose veins have a significant impact on society, affecting 32%of women and 40% of men.
started by aberief review of anatomy of veins lower limb and the most common variations that may help in good choice of treatement for every case .
Also, discussed the pathophysiology and etiology of varicose veins.
Varicose Veins may be primary or secondary
Primary varicose veins which has predisposing factors as:
Congenital incompetence of the valve due to weakness or absence followed by varicosities, Congenital weakness of vein wall allowing varicosities Followed by valve incompetence.
And there is a precipitating factors which differs from person to person as, Pregnancy, obesity, prolonged standing ……etc.
Secondary varicose veins caused by:
Deep venous thrombosis with chronic venous insufficiency, Deep vein compression by tumors in pelvis or abdomin, Arterio-venous fistula.
New methods for diagnosis of varicose vein as Duplex, Venography of varicose veins.
Recent methods in the treatement of varicose veins and traditional methods from these new methods. Sclerotherapy and this method will replace surgical interference, radiofrequency ablation, endovenouse laser ablation and cryosurgery To reach our aim in treatment of any case is good choice of optimal case to be treated with best method of treatment to achieve best results with best cosmetic appearance and least complications.
