Abstract Name: Haiam Helmy Ibraheem Title of Thesis: Preparation and Characterization of Nano Catalyst Used in Reduction of Nitro Organic Pharmaceutical Compounds Degree :( Ph. D.) Thesis, faculty of science, Ain Shams University, 2010 This work has been carried out for preparation of nickel nanometal on titanium dioxide and in zeolite Y catalysts. The nanometal was prepared by reduction from its salts with hydrazine hydrate as reducing agent in non-aqueous medium. X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) , Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) were used to characterize the prepared catalysts. The catalytic activities of the prepared catalysts were evaluated in reduction of ortho and para nitrophenols into the corresponding aminophenols. The reaction was followed by using uv-visible (UV-Vis) and Infra Red (IR) techniques. Factors affecting the reduction processes such as (concentration, pH, temperature and catalyst loading) have been studied. The obtained results indicate that the prepared catalysts were existed in nano size. Catalytic conversion of nitrophenols into aminophenols was conducted in the presence of the prepared nano-nickel zeolite and it was found to be dependent on, the concentration, pH, temperature and catalyst loading. Keywords : Ni, nanometals , hydrazine hydrate, XRD, UV-Vis, IR, TEM, AAS, o- and p- nitrophenol, o and p- aminophenol. |
