Abstract

I’
The thesis comprises three chapters:-
Chapter I. Introduction:
Deal with a literature survey on the theories, models, spectroscopic
studies, as well as importance and applications of hydrogen bond
Chapter 11. Materials and methods:
Includes the methods of preparation of complexes of DHBQ with
different amines, elemental analysis for the prepared complexes, the
different techniques and instruments used to characterize and study the
chemical and physical properties of the isolated compounds such as: the
FT-IR and UVNis.
Chapter Ill. Results and discussion:-
This chapter deals with the equilibrium constants for the proton
transfer complexes formation Kpy between 2,5-diliydroxy-p-benzoquinone. (DHBQ)
and a group of tertiary aliphatic and aromatic amines. The correlation
between log KpT and pKa (amines) includes two straight lines
representing the aromatic and aliphatic tertiary amine complex.
The thermodynamic data for these hydrogen bonded complexes
suggested a weak hydrogen bond in aromatic amines-DHBQ complexes
and a moderately strong one in aliphatic amines-DHBQ complexes.
The short-range solvation effect on the proton transfer equilibria
between DHBQ and some aminopyridines in 700/0 benzene and 30%.
