Abstract

Mit-Ghamr is located on Damietta branch of the Nile River. In addition, Mit-Ghamr is found in the middle of four governorates, Al- Daqhliyah to the north, Al-Qaliobiah to the south, Al-Sharqiah to the east and Al-Gharbia to the west. Studies of water quality in Mit-Ghamr city was very little. The only study was involved in a general work for Daqhliyah governorate. Here, the study is concentrated to Mit-Ghamr city and its surround villages. WHO has a guideline to water quality, which is our reference to evaluate water in this study. The study represents the first full evalution of Mit-Ghamr city wells .this study include some physical parameter such pH, turbidity, total dissolved salts, conductivity, residual chlorine and chemical parameter such total hardness, alkalinity, iron, manganese, nitrite, nitrate, silica, chloride, phosphate, calcium hardness, magenesium hardness, ammonia and sulfate.
In Mit-Ghamr region there were about 127 wells. Of them 107 wells were chosen for investigation. The studied include Mit-Ghamr city and 27-surrounded village, the water quality agrees with the WHO standards. The TDS was between 162 and 582.6 ppm. The chloride was between 18 and 180 ppm. The water here suffers from the presence of iron and manganese in a lot of
region such Mit-abou Kaled, Saint-Mai, El-Rahmania, Kafr-El Mohamadia, Mit-El Faramawy, Kafr-El Gohary, Mit-Mehsen. In Kafr- El Noman, Kofor El Bahyta, Sahraget El Kobra, Tafahna El Ashraf, Beheda and El-Masra the water suffers from the high iron only. In Mit-El Ez and Kafr Sarnaga, the water suffers from the high manganese only.
