Abstract In our course of a continuous program for investigation of Tephritid fruit. In Egypt, mediterranean fruit fly and peach fruit fly populations occurred all over the year. However, the existence of their hosts was the important reason to build up generations and the flies catch increase during the fruiting season of the orchards .So, infested areas incur high production costs due to extra labor and materials needed for controlling these pests. Recently, researchers have searched for new and less toxic control methods. Plant extracts have been taken in consideration due to their low toxicity and low environmental impact. The whole essential oil which its main component is eugenol are used in formulating insect attractants. The essential oils were extracted from plant materials by hydro-steam distillation. The essential oils were collected from the distillates by methylene chloride The selected plants (Clove, Ginger, Nutmeg, Bay leaf) were analyzed by GC/MS use as natural attractant to fruit flies. |
