Abstract
-In this research, a laboratory investigation is carried out to study the effect of introducing a geogrid material on the behaviour of soft subgrade soil in Soil-Fabric-Aggregate (SFA) system. The experimental work involves difference between the response of determining the identical systems with and without geogr Lda ,. The load tests carr ied out in the present study consist of placing subgrade soil, geogrid and granular material in a mold and loading the surface with a static load. The permanent deformation is measured under two points of loading representing the wheel _ loads of a truck. The effect of several variables, including the subbase thickness, rate of loading, type of geogrid and shear strength of subgrade soil are investigated. The deformation is related to the load in a graph form for all samples. The results indicate that the use of geogrid material in construction of roads on soft subgrade soil will have a significant effect on the behavior and performance of these roads.
