Abstract The most common cause of myocardial infarction is occlusion of coronary artery. Education and training the nurses provide care for myocardial infarction patient lead to decrease patient’s morbidity and mortality. The aim of the study is to determine effect of training program on nurse’s performance toward care of patient with Myocardial Infarction through assessment of nurse’s knowledge and practice. A quasi-experimental design used. The study conducted in cardiac care unit at Zagazig University hospitals and sample composed of thirty nurses. A questionnaire sheet used to collect data about nurse’s knowledge about the disease and observation checklist to assess nurse’s practice. According the detected need of nurses develop training program and implemented through session to update nurses knowledge and practice. The results revealed significant statistical difference in nurse’s knowledge and practice related to care of myocardial infarction patient post program. Present of significant relation between nurse’s knowledge and practice mean score and their personal characteristic pre-post program. The study concluded post implementation of training program nurses mean score of knowledge and practice become high than pre program. According the results the following recommendation pre and in-services training program should be implement to all nurses worked in ICCU to update their knowledge and practice about myocardial infarction patient care, follow up evaluation of nurses performance and booklet contain information about myocardial infarction care should be available in the cardiac care unit. |
