Abstract

Burn is one of the serious injuries. It has been common in developing countries. Nurses should develop their own standards of care to achieve quality care for patient who had second degree burn in acute phase. The aim of this study is: developing nursing care standards for patients with second degree burn in acute phase. Research question were formulated: What is the Nursing care standards for patient with second degree burn in Acute phase. Research design: Descriptive exploratory research subject and method: was utilized in this study on a convenient sample of 30 nurses. This study was conducted in the burn department at El-Minia general Hospital and Mallawy general Hospital Tools it was utilized for data collection were a) Questionnaire sheet. b) Observation checklist sheet. c) Construction of developed nursing care standards. Results: nurses’ knowledge about nursing care standard for patient with second degree burn in acute phase. Demonstrates that more than half of the nurses (53.3%) had poor knowledge about burns, 40% of them had satisfactory knowledge, and only 6.7% of them had good knowledge. and nurses’ practices about burns that the practices were adequate in more than quarter of the nurses (26.7%), and inadequate in 73.3% of them. Conclusion: Knowledge of nurses about nursing care standards for patients with second degree burn in acute phase were poor and not apply standards nursing care. Recommendation: Nurses are in need for in-service training programs in burn units and refreshing courses to improve their knowledge and practice which will reflect into their practice while working with patients and improve the patient status.
